Kevin Allen: NHL has lost one of the one of the sport's best hockey writers Jay Greenberg might have been the most clever hockey writer of my generation.

Kevin, thank you for sharing your thoughts and memories of what Jay meant to you. We in Philadelphia, and the NHL at large, we’re privileged to be able to read Jay’s writings for so many years. I wish your daughter the best during her latest struggles.

Growing up in the 70's Jay was the third medium I relied on for my love of Hockey. Gene Hart was the voice I listened to, the players on the ice were the visual representation but I always read Jay's article's for a thorough recap of the game or insight into the goings on. RIP Jay say 'Hi' to Gene and Mr. Snider for us.

Kevin: Thanks for a beautiful tribute to Jay. He was the best in every way - a superb writer and always a pleasure to have dinner with before a game or a beer after. Wishing you, your daughter, and all your loved ones good health. - Hal
